Austin Mastermind Recap

I had a great time this weekend at Scott Carson’s Mastermind event in Austin. I got to spend 3 full days with 30+ serious note investors and also learned about some of Scott’s newest ideas. If you have never been to one I highly recommend reaching out to Scott to see if you can do a “sneak peak” visit next time. You have to attend to learn all the secrets, but some of the key takeaways I received from the event involved these topics:

  • Bidding techniques to pick up more assets from a tape
  • Digital marketing strategies to target visitors to industry events
  • Asset protection and business structure strategies
  • Found a new seller that has the potential to turn into a very lucrative source of assets

Dickie Baldwin from Baldwin Advisory Group (BAG) was able to make it as well. I’ve used his services to get BPOs, send door knockers, get referrals to realtors, and a few other things. What I like about BAG is that they save me a lot of time. I can just send them a quick email and then the product I need will show up in a few days. But I learned that Dickie also offers a few other services that I need like recording and title review.

One of my favorite aspects of these Masterminds is being able to bring a list of all the problems I’m having on specific deals. There is one REO in my portfolio I’ve been having trouble selling. I have a low offer on the table, however there are some things I could do that would be a bit more work that could allow me to do better. The consensus in this case was that the best option was to just dump the property and spend my time on more profitable deals.

I look forward to spending the next few weeks implementing all of the new things that I learned. Hopefully I’ll see you at the next one.
