My name is Dan Deppen and I’d like to introduce you to Fusion Notes. If you are receiving this I met you thru either NoteCamp 4.0, the NoteExpo, the Virtual Note Buying Workshop, or a Colorado real estate event. I’ve been an investor since 1995 and have invested in stocks, options, real estate, and small businesses. But with the stock market at all time high levels I got nervous about the amount of my net worth that I have in stocks and started to take notes more seriously. I’ve been learning from a lot from Scott Carson and I’m a huge fan of his. Previously I was a mechanical engineer in the aerospace industry designing satellites components and other things. Currently I am a Product Manager at a startup software company.
When I was getting my MBA at the University of Colorado a few years ago we used to work closely with a lot of local venture capitalists. One of those was Brad Feld, and he promotes the concept of give before you get, which has had a big influence on me. So as I get Fusion Notes established and move beyond just buying notes for my SDIRA, I want to contribute as much as I can to the community of note and real estate investors.

I want to start by helping other note investors as much as I can and two of the key skills I have to contribute are Microsoft Excel and risk management. In January I’ll start releasing videos in a series that will go into depth on how to use Excel for notes. Then later in the year I’ll release another video series on risk management that will give you a framework for understanding risk and determining appropriate bet (investment) sizes given the nature of a particular investment and your portfolio characteristics. Bet sizing is something that I’ve not really seen discussed too much and I believe some educational material in this area will really help the community.
Lastly as we head into 2018 I hope you are all busy setting your goals and making your plans for the coming year. I know I’ve already done this and have been getting a solid jump start in working towards my goals. I hope you’re doing the same and also have a fantastic holiday season. Please look forward to some of the educational videos I plan on sending out in the new year.
