When analyzing a tape I often want to know how many months in the last year that cash was received. The countif function in Excel is a simple way to do this. In the video below I show how to use countif, and also figure out how many complete payments were received in the last year. Borrowers don’t always pay the exact P&I amount. Sometimes they pay less and sometimes they make extra payments. This short 4 minute video should help you quickly analyze the pay history to get a better idea of how well or not well a loan is performing.
